What is a script supervisor?

A script supervisor is a department head that plays an important role in making sure the film cuts together effectively. Before we even begin shooting, we have to breakdown the script. We breakdown story days, script length, script timing, as well as any and all characters, props, set dressing, and hair and makeup that are in each scene. We oversee the continuity of the motion picture including wardrobe, props, set dressing, hair, makeup and the actions of the actors during a scene. We act as the eyes of the editor on set by lining the script and noting any changes in dialogue and actions. We record notes during the shooting of a scene are used to help the editor cut the scene. We are also responsible for keeping track of the film production unit's daily progress.

About

My process and Kit

Every script supervisor is different and has different tools and items they use to do their job as best as possible. My kit includes but is not limited to: ScriptE for iPad, my iPad and keyboard, MacBook Air M2, my stopwatch, paper forms and scripts, pens, highlighters and my end of day reports. Reports to be developed and submitted as discussed with the production. Productions of all sizes will require paid preperation days for script breakdowns and timings. Wrap days with pay can be negotiated as well.

Knowing Me Knowing You

I live in Toronto and can get most places on transit. Anything out of town will require either a shuttle or a provided vehicle. I work hard to try to find a balance between work and personal development. When I am not on set, I find time to watch movies, read, build gundam models, run, play video games and develop personal projects
